Jazz at school
The Jazz in Schools project began in 2008 with the aim of bringing jazz music and culture to young audiences. The association brings the GOOD TIME JAZZ group into elementary, middle, and high schools. For one hour, the group presents the history and culture of jazz, enriched with videos and musical performances. This program aims to raise awareness among young people aged 8 to 18 about the origins of jazz music: slavery, racial discrimination, segregation, and the fight for civil rights in the United States. All of this is illustrated through music! The association is also committed to meeting young talents from the region and giving them the opportunity to perform on stage during the association's concerts and the Jazz Festival.
Concerts
The association does more than just organize the Fest Jazz festival in the region. It also organizes concerts throughout the year, particularly in the small villages surrounding Châteauneuf-du-Faou (Laz, Plonévez-du-Faou, Gouézec, Spézet, etc.). In addition to jazz, the concerts also feature other musical styles, such as rhythm and blues, bluegrass, folk, and world music. Furthermore, the association regularly organizes swing dance workshops, film screenings followed by discussions, and lectures on jazz and its connections to current social issues.
Fest jazz
Since 2005, the Fest Jazz has grown into the premier event for jazz, swing, and festive music lovers in Châteauneuf-du-Faou. Located in the heart of Central Brittany, the festival welcomes between 3,000 and 4,000 people each year and enjoys increasing success thanks to its welcoming and accessible atmosphere. There's no elitism here, nor is there complicated or pretentious jazz, but rather a relaxed, youthful, and festive ambiance. Spectators stroll among the lively melodies and the five covered stages along the banks of the Aulne River, in one of the most beautiful corners of Brittany.
